I am beginning a new adventure and am glad you are checking in with me to learn more about it. I decided to run as a write in candidate for Kitsap County Coroner. Why? Well, that is a loaded question. I decided to run primarily after learning that this position has been held by conservative men term after term with few exceptions. Also, I learned that this position was, in all practicality a waste of tax payer money. The position of Coroner is unnecessary because we’ve reached a population threshold to reorganize and hire our own Medical Examiner. It’s time to dissolve the elected position of Coroner. As it stands we contract out to other counties for our medical examinations at a rate higher than the salary of Coroner which is currently nearly $128k. I plan to share this information with voters in the coming months. Finally, I’m running to bring awareness to Kitsap about our rising death rates due to suicide and drug and alcohol abuse. We need to implement best practices to care for our residents and lower those death rates. Stay tuned for more blog posts about this journey.
