Since sharing with friends and community members that I plan to run as a write-in candidate for coroner many people have shared troubling stories with me privately. One pervasive theme is long wait times for a deputy coroner to show up. One woman shared that when her grandma passed away on a Sunday morning in the living room of the family home she and her family waited 3 hours for the deputy coroner to arrive. Long wait times are unacceptable. The coroner’s office is centrally located in Kitsap County. It takes an hour (or less) to get anywhere in our county from the location. Demand change and greater sensitivity!
